Cake Pop

Last weekend mommy tried to make some cake pop.
This is her first attempt on cake pop. Well, the result is good to see but not really good to eat :p

The cake
Mommy change the recipe, she changed to use butter cake as the base.
After baked the cake, crumbled, frosting and rolled into the desired shape / pattern.
Mommy made cupcake cake pop, the shape is just like a mini cupcake.

Cake pop...ready for chocolate coating & decoration

Coating with dark chocolate for the base

Top surface coated with orange & pink chocolate.
Top up with sparkle and heart shape candy.
See where pop poke the cake pop? It's on the small butter cake that baked for me and 弟弟.
At first mommy can't find a container to make the cake pop stand straight after chocolate coating. I was the one suggested to mommy to poke the cake pop on top of the butter cake.
Just like candle. Good idea, it worked and the cake can be hold straight up after the coating.
However, the cake inside is too oily. I think mommy didn't follow the recipe in the book and she just based on her feeling to put in the frosting. Frosting will made the cake moist but I think mommy put in too much frosting.

After packing...

SG Dec11 - Jurong Bird Park

This is about our trip to SG on last December - Jurong Bird Park.

My first visit to Jurong Bird Park, we didn't get to visit it during my 1st Singapore trip many years ago.

Before we start to explore the bird park, we had our brunch at the cafeteria near the entrance.
There is a corner special designed for kids. See the chairs, it's animal design. There are zebra, elephant, lion, leopard...etc.

There also an area called Birdz of Play where visitors can have fun in the playground and also the pool area. The Splash Area is so fun and we saw many people awaiting there for the water splash.

Photo taken in the bird park:

The most fun part for me was the bird feeding.
Visitor can buy bird food and we are free to feed the bird at the enclosed area.
See, a red parrot (not sure if it called parrot) came for the food.

弟弟 also feeding the birds

Photo with 舅舅 inside the monorail.

My first visit to Jurong Bird Park and my first experience to feed the bird as well.
It was fun and I enjoyed it very much.

SG Dec11 - Singapore Zoo

Again, this is a back dated post.

Singapore Zoo is the first place of interest that we visited upon our trip to Singapore.
Looking at the map

At the entrance, took a photo with 弟弟 first.

Inside the zoo...
It's not a good day, drizzled. We had to carry umbrella on and off.

We managed to see the Elephant Show as we visited at afternoon time.
However, the show theater is so crowded especially all the audiences with umbrellas.
We just stop and watched for a while and then proceed to other area.

We see a lot of animals there but the most attractive part is Pony Ride.
I found the Pony Ride in the map provided and requested mommy to bring me there.
It was raining day, pony is not out for the ride. We went there but no pony there. Kind of disappointed.
After a while, 舅舅 brought me to check again. This time, the pony is out as rain is stopped.
Finally I had a chance to ride on a pony! It was a very great experience. This is also my first pony ride.

Before the pony ride, it was rain heavily. We went for the Carousel Ride as it's covered.

The 3rd ride we had in the zoo was Boat Ride. We took the boat trip before we ended our visit there.

It was a great trip and we did enjoy seeing those animals. But as I mentioned pony ride still the best and I told 舅舅 I want to visit zoo again just for the ride :)

Cartoon Butter Cookies

Mommy baked some butter cookies for us last weekend.
Those cookies are cute as it was cut into cartoon shape.

There are Piglet, Minnie, Mickey, Pooh and Hello Kitty.

Those cartoon cookies are for the kids.
Mommy also prepared some for adults as below.
Strawberry Butter Cookies with star & heart shape.

The butter cookies recipe as below:

Ingredients:

150g butter at room temperature

100g icing sugar

1 egg

250g rising flour

Method:

1) Beat well butter and sugar till butter change to lighter color.

2) Add egg and continue to beat well.

3) Add in flour and mix well.

4) Wrap in plastic and keep the dough in fridge for at least 1 hour.

5) Roll the dough to 3mm thickness and cut into the shape you like.

6) Bake in oven at 180’C for 12-15min till golden brown.

This recipe not really give a good hardness on the dough to roll out and cut into desired cookies shape. It's too soft even mommy kept in fridge for more than an hour. This recipe is more appropriate for piping cookies. Mommy have to use a lot of flour to prevent it stick on the rolling pin and table. Mommy still try to find a better recipe for molding butter cookies.

Dinner with mommy's friends

Tonight I follow mommy went to a dinner with her friends.
We went to Good Friend Seafood restaurant at Bayan Lepas.
This is a new restaurant, for us at least.

It's the same as Good Friend at Teluk Kumbar, but this is nearer...to us.
No seaview as it's just opposite Dynacraft factory.
It also open during lunch time where they served economy rice, chicken rice and "choo char".

Now I can eat spicy food, in fact I like spicy food now.
Like I can eat Char Koay Teow with little bit of chili, Hokkien Mee without chili but the soup taste a bit spicy to me also.

Good Friend's satay grilled together with the sauce, so it taste a little bit spicy but it's just nice for me. I took 2 sticks before the dinner.

Mommy special ordered a fried egg for me as she knows that I am a picky eater.
But actually I had my dinner with fried Kai Lan (crispy type), fish and fried egg.

Part of the dishes that ordered:
Beggar Chicken and Prawn steamed with Egg

Baked crab & salted egg crab
There are 12 crabs that ordered for 6 adults.
First time I tried crab meat and I think it's delicious. I like it!
From now onwards, mommy can bring me to seafood dinner as I can eat few of the seafood dishes already.
